A lady named Denise Clark had contacted me not to long after and was in need of a surprise cake for a guest they were having at there opening of @Headspace in Maroochydore. The cake was for low and be hold Maxi from @Boni Rescue! I was ever so excited BUT this was not the ONLY reason I jumped at this.
So now this is where this story comes about. First I would like to tell you a little bit about Headspace in Maroochydore and what they are about...
Headspace are there to help with the young from aged 12 to 25... With mental health, physical health, education and employment, alcohol & drugs.
For me I got involved as I got bullied at lot through out my primary school days and high school days, I closed of from my parents as they were divorced, busy and with 7 of us all up well yeah. So to me this was a meaningful opportunity for me to be a small part off something so that will help and change many young lives... Headspace are now trying to get into schools as well for this reason... Headspace Maroochydores link:-http://www.headspace.org.au/headspace-centres/headspace-maroochydore
Now as for the AMAZING Bondi Boys you say what are they to do with this opening... The boys are doing a Jetski ride from Sydney Bondi Beach all the way to Cairns Queensland. They are doing this for raising the profile of metal health charity "headspace" As they to have gone through and seen much disheartening things more then most of us would ever know or even see...
These two men will be self sufficient and even pitching up there own tent at the end of a long day of Jetski riding on the ocean... Here is there link to find out more about their story... Link:-http://therideeastcoast.wordpress.com/what-is-the-ride-east-coast/
I really admire them, as I really had no idea what life guards go through. All over the world. This long ride would certainly put wear and tear on there bodies as they ride over the ocean for long hours arms held straight out. Something these boys should be very proud they are doing.
So when I read their story I knew what kind of cake I had to make Maxi!!! It had to have meaning, bit of a laugh and be WOW!!!!
I wrote down a list palm trees, tent, jetski's, surfboards and beach theme..
And I began researching as I do with all my cakes. Once I found a few things and pictures I liked I designed my cake...
1 week before the event I made all the trees, jetski, tent, scuba diver, crab etc.. And in this time I had an amazing experience!! I had some one I admire ring me... I have admired this man for his figurines for a while... I am much a very quite admirer when I admire some one. An for him to ring I was very WOW and was talking but felt like I was not talking LOL.. I had the amazing talented John Cresswell contact me from Crezart... He gave me some amazing advice on my scuba diver man. He was motionless before, and with John's advice I brought him to life more!! And will remember this from now on with all my figurines. That advice that night was just WOW to be speaking with someone so spectacular and knowledgeable.
The day of the cake baking- Denise had picked out one of the yummiest flavours !! Raspberry and white chocolate!!! It was going to be a long but amazing day... We got up early my children and I delivered a cake to Noosa Heads came home and I began baking the 11x15 inch cake... Ooo the smells were DIVINE!!!
The cake cooled and I butter-creamed away with the white chocolate butter-cream.... Placed on the blue fondant water, crushed my biscuits and placed on the sand.. HAHAHA now that was funny sand was going everywhere.. I actually had to stop and vacuum rewash my hands and start again I made that much mess with the sand LOL... Then the fun part, watching my master piece being put together right before my eyes... It was a very blissful happy moment and one I was very proud of.. This is a very big moment for me I kept thinking and I thought I would be very nervous but I was not.
Everything was done apart from the words.. I sent Denise a sneak peek of the cake.. She was very impressed which made my night...I finished the wording at 10:20pm and headed for bed...
The next day was BONDI BOYS DAY!!! I got the kids up and ready I was very organised as one dose!
Dropped the kids all off at a girlfriends place and I was on my way.. I got to headspace safe and sound and finely met Denise. Oh that was a great moment... Walk in with the cake and the amount of complements was just OVER whelming for me...
The 11am mark came and the boys had arrived... we all yelled SURPRISE, and went into happy birthday.. He had the most amazing big smile on his face!
He mentioned it was the best cake he has ever received which was very lovely of him and I even got a kiss on the cheek ^_^
Thank you Maxi and Jesse for the amazing photo
I got so many complements for the cake not only looking mind blowing on the outside but also tasting spectacular on the inside. As a few people placed it "usually cakes that look amazing on the outside taste shit on the inside LOL" So I am very please to say my cakes really do taste amazing...
